While racing the Vuelta a España last Fall, Cam Wurf would join his Ineos Grenadiers teammates for their rest day shake out rides. We’re all familiar with the importance these play as riders transition from one week of hard racing into another. But then Cam would do something no other World Tour rider in their right mind would do – he would go for a run.
For as long as I can remember…while doing a sport, I’ve always been thinking about doing another sport.
Growing up, my goals were to compete at the highest level of sport. I didn’t even know what sport because my heroes were in every sport.
The underlying thing for me is that I’ve always wanted to be just a great athlete and not pigeonholed into one sport, and in my mind, an athlete can do anything.
Right now, I finally feel like an athlete. I’m doing something a bit different, where I’m doing two sports at the very highest level, and that really motivates me to be the very best I can possibly be.
Sport is my life, and has been, for as long as I can remember, and my dream is that it will be for as long as I can see into the future.
