It was exactly 10 years ago that we started working with Nathan Haas. We met him for the first time at the Garmin-Sharp team presentation in Boulder. He made an immediate impression, both for his affable Aussie friendliness as well as his determination. Most 1st-year WorldTour riders are wide-eyed as they move up to the big leagues, but Nathan was self-assured enough to convince us why he needed custom fit in his long sleeve jerseys. A friendship was born.

Nathan and Castelli had some amazing times over the next four years as Garmin morphed to Cannondale. From 2016 to 2021 we didn’t manage to align our respective teams, although Nathan could be spotted wearing an unmarked Gabba every now and then. When Nathan decided to shift to full-time gravel racing for 2022 we both jumped at the chance to reunite.

We’ll be outfitting Nathan with the best gear for his new challenges. He'll wear our aero products for the fast races, our Unlimited gravel collection for demanding courses and training, and of course the best protective gear in the world when the weather turns cold and wet.

“I wore Castelli for my first four years in the world tour, and some of my fondest memories of my decade racing road are in those years, and with the company, says Nathan Haas.

“From when I first met Steve Smith, MVC Group Cycling Divison Manager, I knew the relationship would last longer than team sponsors, or withstanding of it. The companies ability to truly adapt products for us, and listen to our feedback is really exceptional. I’m beyond excited to be able to work with them to develop products for off-road use, and create some unique designs, visuals, and just stand out.”

For Nathan it’s also a reunion to go back to racing on dirt — he was representing Australia at World Cup MTB races before shifting to the road in 2009. With Nathan’s WorldTour engine and MTB skills clad in the world’s fastest clothing, gravel racing just ratcheted up a notch. Officially of course we’re just going to keep it fun.

“I’m going into Gravel with a performance mindset- this isn’t a retirement in any way, its a return to off-road where I started. A partner like Castelli is the perfect fit, to carry a racing mindset forward with me and by my side.

" We're very excited to have Nathan back with us and looking forward to this new chapter and adventure together. And, don't forget to read Nathan's Blog on CyclingNews for more information.
